What are Chinese uppercase numbers?

Chinese uppercase amounts are the formal numerals used on invoices, receipts, and bank documents to reduce tampering. They replace ordinary digits with financial characters such as 壹, 贰, 叁, 拾, 佰, and 仟.

This converter works in both directions: it can turn a plain number into an RMB-style uppercase amount, or parse an uppercase amount back into a number. It supports negative values, fixed 元/角/分 units, and up to two decimal places.

Common formatting rules

A full amount usually contains an integer part, the 元 unit, and an optional fractional part written with 角 and 分. Whole amounts often end with 整, while zeroes are inserted only where they are needed to keep the wording clear.

For example, 1024.50 can be rendered as 壹仟零贰拾肆元伍角 in Simplified output, or 壹仟零貳拾肆元伍角 in Traditional output.

Simplified vs Traditional

Simplified output uses forms such as 贰, 叁, 陆, 万, and 亿. Traditional output uses 貳, 參, 陸, 萬, and 億, while keeping the same financial structure.

Choose the style that matches the document standard you need, then copy the result directly into contracts, invoices, or accounting forms.
