Why Base85 decoding matters
Base85 appears when binary data has to move through text-only systems with less overhead than hexadecimal or Base64. You may encounter it in PostScript or PDF streams, ZeroMQ Z85 payloads, debugging captures, archived exports, and tools that need printable characters instead of raw binary bytes.

What to keep in mind
- ASCII85 and Z85 are not interchangeable. Choosing the wrong alphabet usually causes decode errors or corrupted output.
- Base85 is an encoding format, not encryption. The decoded result may be plain text, compressed content, or arbitrary binary data.
- Z85 requires complete 5-character groups, while ASCII85 may also include delimiters and shorthand such as
zfor zero blocks.
